Firm Overview

Carter, Smith, Merriam, Rogers & Traxler began as a general practice firm in 1952, but Carter Law has since evolved into a firm devoted to complex litigation.

Its civil litigation practice focuses on complex commercial and business litigation, medical malpractice, and substantial personal injury cases. The firm also has an extensive family law practice with an emphasis on complex domestic relations cases and contested child custody cases. The firm also handles criminal defense cases in State and Federal Court.

Tom Traxler focuses primarily on complex commercial litigation and family law and has written various software programs used by the South Carolina Family Court judges and lawyers. Mediation also constitutes a significant portion of Mr. Traxler's work.

Brook Fowler represents clients in a wide array of legal matters including medical malpractice, personal injury cases (including tractor-trailer and automobile wrecks), banking litigation, wrongful death litigation, probate and estate litigation, as well as other general litigation cases.
